Mauro Giuliani’s Chamber Works

My project is entirely dedicated to rediscovering and enhancing the work of Mauro Giuliani, with a double purpose: on the one hand to bring his lesser-performed repertoire, both solo and chamber music, to the attention of the public and performers, and on the other hand to rediscover a historically informed performance practice, linked to extemporaneity and improvisation. A first concrete step in this direction was the publication of Le Troubadour du Nord, a 12-volume collection of songs and romances for voice and guitar.

This rediscovery was also a starting point for a more extensive reflection on the sound and timbre of time. The research aims to promote a conscious approach that also restores vitality to Giuliani’s minor and chamber works, which are too often neglected.
