GRACIAS A LA VIDA

This project was born from the desire to pay homage to Mercedes Sosa, one of the most powerful and beloved voices in South American music. It offers a musical journey that intertwines poetry, tradition, and human emotion, reinterpreting her repertoire through the sensitivity of classically trained musicians open to exploring popular and folk traditions.

The songs—performed in their original language—are reimagined as “folk art songs,” where timbre, form, and interpretation reveal their poetic essence and emotional intensity. The dialogue between classical guitar and voice becomes intimate and profound, while the bass guitar—deeply rooted in South American folk culture yet rarely heard in concert halls—adds warmth and resonance, enriching the expressive palette.

In a time marked by distance and fragility, this project becomes a gentle act of harmony and remembrance. The chosen songs—echoes of voices that have sung of love, loss, and hope—resonate with timeless beauty, carrying within them the breath of a people and their landscapes.

The project also welcomes collaboration with contemporary composers, inviting them to create new works inspired by this vibrant musical world, ensuring that its poetic spirit continues to evolve and resonate in the present.
